Please, let us give you a brief description of Szentgotthárd and its neighbourhood. Szentgotthárd is the town situated the farthest in the west in Hungary and it is a key factor in the life of the town that, owing to the Three cross-border, the encounter of the various cultures and ethnic groups living in the neighbourhood plays an important role in everyday life as well. The surrounding towns and villages, especially the natural resources of the Őrség region are very attractive tourist sites. In this respect, Szentgotthárd has always been a starting point of cycling and walking tours. The neighbourhood offers the following recreational activities: hiking, gathering mushrooms, horse-riding, cycling, angling and bathing in the nearby lakes.

Some - but not all - sights in the neighbourhood are: historic churches, including one of Hungary's most beautiful Baroque-style Catholic churches in Szentgotthárd, potters, belfries, the Three cross-border Felsőszölnök, the village museum in Őriszentpéter etc.

And for those interested in the tourist spots of nearby Austria or Slovenia: the Burgenland wine-district (row of wine cellars in Heiligenbrunn, wine museum in Moschendorf etc.), the surrounding castles and mansions (Güssing, Burgau, Eberau etc.), glass museum in Sulz, pilgrimage church in Maria Himmelfahrt, Emperor Mill in Bakovci, water-mills (Salovci, Markovci etc.), Lake of Hodos: otter paradise etc.
